We honestly can’t think of a better holiday gift than studying abroad – but then again, we are Education Abroad! This year we are awarding $100,000 in scholarships. Two $3,500 Scholarships Available for Australia!

Two students on the  International Business short course  will be awarded $3,500 AUD scholarships to help cover the cost of program fees. These scholarships are supported by the University of Melbourne. Applications will be available after acceptance. This two week program, offered through The University of Melbourne and GlobaLinks Learning Abroad, is designed to develop broad, integrated knowledge of international business practices and skills needed to work in global companies. Students will acquire insight into the social, cultural, political, and economic factors that influence business in the global environment, while gaining an introduction to the important role that Asia-Pacific countries play in the world economy. Scholarship Alert!

CIEE’s Language Intensive Focus Track Scholarship (LIFT) will provide $100,000 annually to encourage students to study one of five languages— Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, or Russian —for a year in another country. LIFT scholarships will be initially offered to current CIEE students pursuing intensive language development in Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, and Russian, and will expand to all CIEE language programs beginning in fall 2013. Scholarship awards will be a minimum of $5,000 and will be awarded to exemplary students based on undergraduate GPA and the strength of a personal essay. Click here to learn more!

In your essays, avoid making general statements .  Rather, point to specific reasons, examples and benefits.  For example, if you are applying to study in Argentina, rather than saying something like “I want to experience a new culture,” it would be more effective to say something like “I want to live in a host family in Argentina so I can experience first-hand the center of Latin American culture:  the family.”
