Overview The Northeastern University ADVANCE Program invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate. We are seeking a highly motivated, up and coming researcher to support a number of research initiatives within the ADVANCE program. The primary role for the chosen candidate will be to contribute to social science based data collection, analysis and evaluation projects related to aspects of academic networking, interdisciplinary networking, and the advancement of women and minorities in academia. In addition, the postdoctoral research associate will support ongoing events in other areas of the Northeastern ADVANCE project. Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a PhD, preferably in Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Gender Studies, Ethnic Studies, Education, or related fields. Candidates from other disciplines will be considered if their experiences fit within the research interests of Northeastern ADVANCE. An ideal candidate should have research interests that are in accord with Northeastern ADVANCE related work, which includes areas such as gender and science, work, organizations, social networks, workplace dynamics, institutional policies and implementation. Candidates should demonstrate a strong working knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research techniques in the Social Sciences, and have the ability to work and communicate effectively with an interdisciplinary group of faculty and students. Strong written and verbal skills are required. Knowledge of research design, evaluation research, qualitative data analysis, statistics and statistical analysis programs such as SPSS, STATA, and NVIVO 8 are a plus. A track record of papers published in reputable journals will be viewed as a valuable asset. Candidates should be independent self-starters who share in our vision, and demonstrate leadership and the ability to collaborate with others in past endeavors.
